![]() I am a midwife with 25yrs experience. I worked in the NHS in different positions which enhanced my knowledge, skills and confidence, and then decided to work as an independent midwife 9yrs ago as I wanted to get back to basics and be a hands on midwife. As an independent midwife I have supported women to birth at home and in hospital. I have experience in water births, twin births and breech births at home. I enjoy getting to know women and their families and feel very honoured to be part of an amazing journey unique to each woman and her family. I had a wonderful birth. I feel this was due to me knowing the midwives who supported me; they were colleagues who knew me well. My son is now 22yrs old and an amazing young man. I believe my role as a midwife is to empower women to believe in their bodies and intuition, and to support women in the choices they make - for themselves, their babies and families. I also place enormous value on the support women require in the first four weeks of the baby’s life, as good support helps with the smooth transition to parenthood. As a person I am easygoing, flexible and passionate about my work .In my spare time, I enjoy time with my son, entertaining and going out. I am an ardent cricket fan and love watching cricket especially if Sri Lanka are playing! I'm a great cook. My colleagues will vouch for it. I am also a reflexologist and work very closely with other alternative therapists. |
